2002, 50 digital prints
From June to August of 2002, the artist photographed items his son made during his visits. These creations were documented after his son was taken home to his mother, the custodial parent. The full collection, with titles, can be seen on the Public Collectors Web Site.
Most of these photos look very good on the Web. The reality is I captured them with the only decent digital camera I had at the time: my Sony TRV900 (a digital video camera), so the resolution is fairly poor. I could argue that by capturing these items on a moving picture camera rather than a still camera, I was emphasizing the ephemeral nature of these creations which fits with the meaning of the piece. The truth is I wish I had used a better camera.
