2002, 60-minute VHS tape, plastic trees
A tin soldier is seen in profile on a monitor turned sideways to allow a portrait framing of the full soldier. A clear liquid is poured onto the soldier leaving him submerged in the monitor that has transformed into a container. Slowly we see him begin to dissolve.
The video is split into four slow segments, documenting several hours of decomposition. The piece is simple and meditative. The miniature trees displayed with the video are playful and ward off an overly somber reading.
